A new service launching in Denver aims to help busy working professionals, businesses, single parents and others with an oft-cumbersome task: lawn care.
GreenPal, which bills itself as the "Uber for lawn care," is an app that connects people and companies that have lawns with local, vetted landscaping professionals.
The Nashville-based company will officially launch in Denver Tuesday, although it has been operating for about two weeks and has more than 50 landscapers already signed up, according to co-founder Gene Caballero.
"Most of the vendors that sign up for our service are professionals that have had success running their landscaping business, but are looking for help growing it," Caballero said.
The app handles demand-creation, scheduling, routing and invoicing for those landscapers.
It works by allowing yard-owners to list their service date and lawn care needs. The landscapers can then bid on those properties using aerial images and other details, and the yard-owner can select a landscaper based on ratings, reviews and price.
The vendor then sends a time-stamped photo of completed work, and yard-owners can pay using the app.
Homeowners tend to use the app most, Caballero said.
"We have a high number of real estate agents and properties managers that also use our product due them being able to manage multiple properties from their smartphone," he added.
GreenPal launched in 2012 and has more than 5,000 vendors operating in 30 markets, including Tampa, San Antonio, Houston, Orlando, Charlotte, Louisville, Fort Lauderdale, Kansas City and more.
The company has seen 250 percent revenue growth year-over-year and has an estimated 2018 revenue of $14 million, according to Caballero.
