American Airlines has made a big eco-friendly move.
The world’s largest airline said it is taking “the next step” to reduce the carrier’s impact on the environment by reducing the amount of plastic on board planes and in lounges around the world.
Starting this month, American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) will eliminate plastic straws from its lounges and instead serve drinks with a biodegradable, eco-friendly straws and wood stir sticks.
American also will begin transitioning to all eco-friendly flatware within lounges.
In November, American will eliminate plastic stir sticks on board flights and transition to a new stick made of sustainable bamboo.
