Creator Matt Groeningwas among thousands whocame to Springfield, Vermont,to toast the TV cartoon family's first full-length film.
Groening and other VIPs walked the yellow carpet to a stage set up in a bank parking lot for the ceremony. That's where former Phish member Page McConnell played "The Simpsons" theme song on keyboards.
As every fan knows, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie live in Springfield, although the state has never been revealed.
The Vermont Springfield got the most votes in an online USA Today poll and earned the right to host the premiere, beating out Springfields in 13 other states, including Colorado.
The movie got rave reviews from people who watched the early showing.
