DENVER – In wake of a hit-and-run that left a 29-year-old woman dead, residents in the nearby neighborhood say they want something done about the intersection where it happened.
The victim, identified as Anna Helms, was killed after another driver ran a red light and t-boned her car near the intersection of 7th Avenue and Josephine Street.
Neighbors say that more drivers are speeding through that intersection, which they say is also seeing increased traffic.
They'll meet with city officials Tuesday night to come up with a solution.
"We'd like to see more squad cars around, and ticketing people for running red lights, predominantly, but speeding, certainly" Stephen Crockett, who lives nearby, said.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church. Representatives from Denver's traffic division will be on hand.
Kierra Copeland, 22, was arrested in connection with the Oct. 11 crash. She faces charges for vehicular homicide and reckless driving.
Police say she tried to run away after hitting Helms' car.
