Select flavors of the popular hummus brand, Sabra, is being voluntarily recalled nationwide.
The FDA announced that Sabra Dipping Co. is recalling certain hummus products made prior to November 8 due to concerns over Listeria monocytogenes.
"Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and other with weakened immune systems," the FDA said.
The bacteria has not been found in products that have been tested, the FDA said. The products were distributed to retail outlets in the U.S. and Canada.
Consumers with any product with a "Best Before" date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it.
Sabra products not being recalled are Sabra Organic Hummus, Sabra Salsa, Sabra Guacamole and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips.
