DENVER — President Joe Biden visited Colorado this week after postponing his trip last month due to the Hamas-Israel conflict.
On Wednesday, Biden traveled to Pueblo to visit CS Wind — the largest wind tower manufacturer in the world — where he delivered remarks on mobilizing investments in clean energy manufacturing and creating good-paying jobs, including in Colorado’s 3rd congressional district, represented by Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert.
The president arrived in Denver Tuesday afternoon and attended a fundraising event in Denver, according to a release from the White House. This stop marks Biden's fifth visit to the state since he took office.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis released a statement Monday welcoming Biden.
“We are thrilled to welcome President Joe Biden to Pueblo, the home of heroes and the best chile in the world — the Pueblo chile," Polis said in a release. "Colorado is leading the nation in transitioning to 100% renewable energy, and our wind manufacturing capabilities are helping to power our clean energy economy, create jobs, and save people money on electricity."
“We continue working to advance our goal of achieving 100% renewable energy in Colorado by 2040," Polis said. "I appreciate the president’s partnership on Colorado’s comprehensive plans to fix our roads, and bridges and our overall efforts to add more rail and train options for Coloradans so people can get to work and where they want to go faster, safer, and more efficiently.”
Biden postponed a trip to Colorado on Oct. 16 to stay in Washington and focus on the growing conflict in the Middle East, setting aside an opportunity to pitch his economic accomplishments as he runs for reelection, The Associated Press reported.
It's rare for presidential travel, which is meticulously planned for security and logistical purposes, to be called off at the last minute. Biden's decision reflects the competing pressure that he faces as he tries to manage bloody conflicts in Ukraine, where the Russian invasion is in its second year, and now the Middle East, always one of the world's most combustible regions, AP reported.
In August, Biden needled Boebert, whose 3rd Congressional District includes Pueblo, during a speech at a wind power manufacturing plant in Albuquerque, where he called out the Silt Republican for voting against a bill that could add hundreds of jobs to her district in Colorado, according to Colorado Politics.
