Democratic VP pick Tim Walz is coming to Colorado

The Democratic Minnesota governor-turned-Vice President pick will stop in Colorado this week as part of his "first fundraising blitz."

DENVER — Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be in Colorado on Wednesday for his first campaign fundraising event in the state as Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate.

Walz is scheduled to speak Wednesday at a Harris-Walz campaign reception in Denver, according to an announcement from the campaign. It's the second stop of what the Harris-Walz campaign is calling a five-state "fundraising blitz" scheduled to take three days.

Walz's cross-country tour begins in Newport Beach, CA, before coming to Denver. Then, he'll head to Boston, MA, Newport, RI, and Southampton, NY, for the final legs of his tour.

Harris announced Walz as her running mate in the 2024 presidential election just last week. His first solo appearances on the campaign trail follow a series of joint rallies with Harris in key swing states last week. The Democrats' tour included stops in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.

Walz grew up in West Point, Nebraska. Before he got into politics, he was a social studies teacher, football coach and union member at Mankato West High School in Minnesota. He also served 24 years in the Army National Guard.

On the road to November, Harris and Walz face their Republican counterparts: Former President Donald Trump and his Vice-Presidential pick, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Trump was in Colorado Saturday to fundraise at a private reception in Aspen, reported Colorado Politics. He then took to his social media platform, Truth Social, calling Colorado a "political cesspool" and claiming the two-day event raised $28,000,000 for his campaign.
