DENVER — The effort to overturn Denver’s ban on camping in public places has failed.
9NEWS Political Analyst Floyd Ciruli has projected Initiative 300 to lose. 5 a.m. results from the Denver Clerk and Recorder show that the ordinance was losing 82.82% votes no to 17.18% yes with 144,517 ballots tallied.

The “No on 300” campaign released the following statement:
Supporters of Initiative 300 have said something must be done to help the city of Denver’s ailing homeless population. Detractors – as seen on ads and road signs – have argued “we can do better.”
The failure of Initiative 300 means that the so-called homeless sweeps that have occurred in the city may continue.
