Denver, CO - 9NEWS reporter TaRhonda Thomas returned to her home state of Louisiana and claimed a prestigious national award, winning the Specialty Reporter category at the 37th Annual National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair in New Orleans.
Thomas won the award with photojournalist Corky Scholl for their story, "The Real O.G." about a self-described "hip hop organic gardener" in Denver. It is Thomas' fourth NABJ honor in the past two years.
9NEWS Vice President and News Director Patti Dennis said, "TaRhonda is a natural storyteller with a passion for local reporting. Combine her passion with the remarkable ability of Corky Scholl, and you get an unbeatable combination providing the kind of story which both entertains and informs."
