These are the best local bands you can see perform for free at Levitt Pavillion in Denver this summer.

DENVER - The Levitt Pavilion, located at the Ruby Hill Park in Denver, is hosting 50 free concerts this summer.

While they bring in acts from around the country, one of the main focuses on the venue is to highlight local talent.

Here are some of the top local bands you can see for free at Levitt Pavillion this summer:

Five Iron Frenzy

Friday, June 1

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Five Iron Frenzy was first formed in 1995. Their songs "Oh, Canada" and "Where the Zero Meets the Fifteen" gained national attention and the band soared to stardom. They broke up in 2003 but announced a reunion in 2011. To raise money for their new album, they took the unusual step of launching a Kickstarter campaign. In the first hour, they raised $30,000. In total, they were able to make $207,000, which was almost seven times their initial goal.

Maxwell Hughes

Thursday, June 7

5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Maxwell Hughes grew up in Fort Collins and picked up his first instrument when he was 16-years-old. He played mandolin with the Lumineers for a short time and helped write a few of their songs during that time. He then joined the Denver band Edison before venturing out on his own. He's known for his emotional and technical guitar-playing and has so far released three albums of his own compositions.

iZCALLi

Sunday, Aug. 12

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Spanish Rock band iZCALLi began performing in 2005, hoping to bring the Rock En Tu Idioma movement of the late 80’s and 90’s to Denver. Their first release was a song on the compilation, Rock en las Rocas Vol. 1. They have since released an LP and an album as well as toured throughout the country with other acts and at music festivals.

Blake Brown & the American Dust Choir

Sunday, Aug. 12

5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Hailing from Denver, Blake Brown started this project in 2013. The original idea was that the 'American Dust Choir' would be a revolving cast of Brown's musician friends who would play with him as they were available. But Brown has now found a full-time supporting band that includes both his wife, Tiffany Brown, and three longtime friends, and has his debut full-length album came out in March.

Esmé Patterson

Friday, Aug. 17

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Esmé Patterson started out as one-half of the indie-folk due Paper Bird. Four albums later, she decided to venture out on her own and released her first solo album in 2012. Her most famous song is likely Dearly Departed a collaboration with Shakey Graves released in 2014.

The Still Tide

Friday, Aug. 17

7:00 - 10:00 p.m.

The Still Tide is fronted by Anna Morsett, who grew up in Olympia, Washington and moved to Colorado in 2013. There's also co-founder and guitarist Jacob Miller, drummer Joe Richmond and bassist Nate Meese. The band's most recent release is a four-track E.P., their fourth to date. They describe their sound as having a "chill vibe."
