DENVER — Still have that glove you bought for the rec league softball team you quit after two games and haven't used since?

Donate it, and all your other new and gently used sports equipment, to a good cause this Saturday at the seventh annual giveSPORTS Equipment Drive.

The event, run by Kroenke Sports Charities and A Precious Child, is designed to help local children who might not be able to otherwise participate in organized sports by providing both fee scholarships and equipment.

Kroenke Sports Charities will also be providing two tickets to either a preseason Colorado Avalanche or Denver Nuggets game to everyone who donates.

Since its inception in 2012, the drive has collected over 200,000 pieces of sports equipment and more than $120,000 in sports scholarships to benefit more than 64,000 kids in the Denver metro area, according to a news release from giveSPORTS.

“There are thousands of children whose families are living under the Colorado Self-Sufficiency Standard and want nothing more than to participate in sports alongside their peers,” said Carina Martin, CEO and founder of A Precious Child. “We are looking to the community to donate sports equipment and funds to help us put all kids in the game, so no one gets sidelined by their circumstances.”
