WASHINGTON — About 287,300 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens sold by Best Buy in the U.S. and Canada are being recalled because of a fire hazard.
According to the recall, the air fryers can overheat while in use, causing their handles to melt or break. The recalled air fryer ovens can also overheat and the glass on the door can shatter, posing fire, burn and cut hazards.
The recall, issued Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, covers Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens with the model numbers NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, and NS-AF10DSS2.

About 187,400 of the air fryers in the U.S. were sold, and an additional 99,300 were sold in Canada.
The CPSC said there have been 24 reports of the air fryers overheating. Six of the reports indicated that the air fryers caught on fire as they overheated. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
The devices were sold at Best Buy stores and the retailer's online shop, as well as at a number of third-party stores, with prices ranging from $32 to $180. Best Buy has reportedly already contacted every known buyer to inform them of the recall.
Anybody with an air fryer covered in the recall is encouraged to contact Best Buy for a full refund. Customers are being asked not to return the air fryers to Best Buy stores, and to dispose of them instead.
