Music festival attendees have a lot to consider when they dress for days or even weekends of live music. There’s the comfort factor, trendiness quotient and question of “Will that outfit look cute on Instagram?” With Coachella a month away and steady stream of fests coming after that, it’s time for the selfie-loving sect to start packing their overnight bags. We're here to help, with a few recommendations:

The matching set

On very few occasions is wearing a matching crop top and skirt appropriate. A music festival is one of those occasions. The set is perfect for frolicking in a field and listening to music ... and taking a photo of the whole ordeal. Afterward, you can wear the top and bottoms separately. (Links: Set 1Set 2)

The hat

It’s both fashionable and functional (you’ll appreciate its shade). There are many hat options for music fans, from sporty to straw. (Links: Hat 1Hat 2)

Distressed denim shorts

The best part about these shorts? Festival-induced rips only make the jeans look better. Also: It’s the easiest item of clothing to wear on the grass and at the porta-potty. (Links: Shorts 1Shorts 2)

A romper

They call it a “playsuit” for a reason: The loose fit of the connected shorts-and-top outfit makes dressing (Only one piece!) and dancing easy and comfortable. But make sure your festival romper is easy on and off —you don’t want to get stuck. (Links: Romper 1Romper 2)

A white layer top

A festival day may start out hot, but then get cool once night falls. The best way to dress for the change of temps? Layer! At the base of your look, we recommend a simple white top that can be exposed, then covered with a muscle tee, sweater, zip-up or all of the above. (Links: Top 1, Top 2)

The bag

Sometimes a fanny pack doesn't cut it. If you're carrying extra clothing, sunscreen and a water bottle, you'll need something light, comfy and cute to put it in. How about a linen bag or backpack? (Links: Bag 1, Bag 2)

A maxi dress

If you just want to feel like you're wearing a blanket all day, but still look trendy, there's an item of clothing for that: the cozy maxi dress. Of course, you don't want it to be so log that it drags in the dirt. (Links: Dress 1, Dress 2)
