DENVER — Someone in Colorado is $1 million richer Wednesday after a big Mega Millions drawing.
A $1 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in Colorado during Tuesday night's drawing, which had a jackpot above $1 billion. The lucky Colorado ticket matched five numbers. The ticket was sold at a Safeway at 12422 W. Ken Caryl Ave. in Jefferson County.
- One $20,000 winner
- One $10,000 winner
- 17 $1,000 winners
- 12 $500 winners
- 42 $400 winners
- 62 $200 winners
The $20,000 winner was sold at Players Cafe at 2045 Sheridan Blvd. in Edgewater. The $10,000 ticket was sold at the Circle K at 4206 Ute Hwy. in Longmont.
The $1.13 billion grand prize winning ticket was issued in New Jersey. Tuesday's drawing was the fifth-largest prize in Mega Millions history and the seventh-largest U.S. lottery jackpot.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night were 7-11-22-29-38, 4 MegaBall and 2x Megaplier.
Besides Colorado, $1 million tickets were also sold in California, two in Florida, two in Georgia, one in Illinois, one in Indiana, one in Michigan, two in New York and one ticket in Ohio.
And talk about New Jersey being lucky: A second winning ticket from that state is worth $2 million because its owner picked the five white ball numbers correctly, and selected the more expensive Megaplier option to double their winnings.
