Missing Aurora woman last seen June 13 found dead

The body of the 19-year-old woman was found inside a submerged vehicle in Fort Lupton late Wednesday.

GREELEY, Colo. — A woman who had not been seen since June 13 was found dead inside a vehicle that was submerged in a body of water near a gravel quarry in the Fort Lupton area.

On Wednesday, Greeley Police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing person alert for 19-year-old Leslie Elizama Vicente Vicente of Aurora. According to police, she had traveled to Greeley on June 13 to attend a religious event that was held at the Island Grove Regional Park, located on the northeast side of Greeley.

She left the event around 9:10 p.m. in her silver 2009 Nissan Murano but never arrived home. On Wednesday police released information about where she may have traveled and late that evening an employee of a Weld County gravel quarry called 911 after noticing signs that a vehicle went into a body of water near the quarry.

That was in the area of Highway 85 and Weld County Road 22. Members from the Greeley Police Department and Fort Lupton Police Department Police Department, as well as Dive Team members from the Greeley and Fort Lupton Fire Departments responded to the scene.

Dive team members located a submerged vehicle and recovered a body inside that was later identified as the missing woman. Since the vehicle was recovered in Fort Lupton, they're now handling the investigation into what happened.
