KUSA — A wildfire burning in Chaffee County is still an active fire and is about 60 percent contained, according to the Chaffee County Fire Protection District Monday morning.
Firefighters were able to hold the Schoolhouse Fire at 27 acres Sunday night and there was no new growth.
About 30 firefighters are working the fire which is burning near Buena Vista.
Chaffee County Fire Protection District says crews are experiencing high winds and low humidity. There have been 40 mph wind gusts and sustained winds of 30 mph.
No structures are threatened and none have been lost. About 50 homes south of the fire were evacuated initially, but everyone was allowed to return home around 9 p.m. Sunday night.
The cause of the Schoolhouse Fire is still under investigation.
