KUSA – A smoke odor that many people have been reporting in Arapahoe and Douglas counties is likely from the wildfires burning across the state, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.
A smoky haze is also visible in the south metro area.
With that being said, if you see flames or heavy smoke, call 911 and notify firefighters immediately.
Hot temperatures in the forecast for Thursday, which won’t offer firefighters much of a reprieve.
The Buffalo Mountain Fire burning near Silverthorne is now 20 percent contained. Crews are continuing to battle the 416 Fire near Durango, and firefighters spent early Thursday morning putting out hotspots after lightning sparked an 8,000-acre blaze in Weld County.
