BOULDER — If you see smoke in and around Boulder, it's likely from a prescribed burn next to Boulder Reservoir.
The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department and Boulder Fire Rescue are conducting a 19-acre prescribed burn on Wednesday at Little Day Creek East.
The prescribed burn is planned between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Boulder Parks and Recreation says the burn will promote ecosystem health by reducing invasive weed species, decreasing thatch and promoting greater biodiversity. The burn will also enhance habitat for the Northern Harrier raptor species.
Firefighters from Boulder Fire Rescue will be on hand to monitor the burn.
