Park Creek Fire estimated at 60 acres

The fire is expected to stay active Saturday night. There is a Red Flag warning on Sunday, with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour expected.

A fire burning in southwest Colorado has forced a number of road closures this weekend, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

As of 12:30 p.m. Saturday, forest officials say the Park Creek Fire is about 60 acres and at 25% containment.

The fire is burning in Rio Grande County

What caused the fire, which is being fueled by spruce-fir forest and grass, is under investigation.

The fire is expected to stay active Saturday night. There is a Red Flag warning on Sunday, with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour expected.

The following roads and areas are impacted:

  • Forest Service Road 380 from U.S. Highway 160 to its junction with Forest Service Road 390
  • Forest Service Road 360 from lower Beaver Creek Campground to gave near south end of Beaver Creek
  • Reservoir (Cross Creek Road open)
  • Forest Service Trail 842 (Tewksberry Trail)
