Entire Teller County subdivision evacuated due to fire

KUSA – The Teller County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation notice for an entire subdivision near Cripple Creek Friday afternoon due to a wildfire.

Teller County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Commander Greg Couch tweeted that there is a mandatory evacuation for the High Chateau and Highland Meadows subdivisions.

The fire is burning on 106 acres of forested land, and no structures are in danger, according to the Teller County Sheriff's Office.

The evacuation area is west of Wright’s Reservoir northeast of Cripple Creek.

Couch tweeted that Cripple Creek High School is being used as an emergency shelter.

Livestock can be brought to the Teller County Fairgrounds.
