Evacuations lifted for two Pueblo fires

The Vision Hills Fire and Evraz Fire both started Friday afternoon.

PUEBLO, Colo. — Evacuations and pre-evacuations ordered Friday for two Pueblo fires were lifted Saturday, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

Vision Hills Fire

As of 6:00 p.m. Saturday, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office said the fire burning near Jerry Murphy Road and Vision Hills Parkway was at 107 acres and containment was at 80%.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said all evacuations and pre-evacuations were lifted for the Vision Hills Fire. At around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, evacuations were lifted for residents within a half-mile of 1945 Overton Road, according to social media reports from the sheriff's office. A pre-evacuation order was then issued for residents between 1940 Overton Road and 2715 Overton Road, but this was later lifted as well.

The sheriff's office spokesperson said all road closures and traffic control points were also lifted.

The American Red Cross Reception Center at 1650 Cooper Place is now closed, the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office said shelters for large animals at the Liberty Landing Stables (1401 S. McCulloch Blvd) and 4 Bar S (6675 Colo. Hwy 78) are also closed.

The sheriff's office said crews would monitor the fire throughout the night Saturday. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Agencies that responded to the fire included Pueblo City Fire, Pueblo County Emergency Services Division Fire, Pueblo Rural Fire, Beulah Fire, Rye Fire, West Park, Hanover Fire, Pueblo Chemical Depot, Pueblo County Roads and Bridges, Division of Fire Protection and Control, and AMR.

Evraz Fire

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said all pre-evacuation orders for the Evraz Fire were lifted Saturday morning.

About 4:50 p.m. Friday, homes in the 1000 block of Palo Alto Street in the Salt Creek neighborhood were under pre-evacuation due to a fire near the Evraz steel mill. The reception center for evacuated residents was at 1650 Cooper Place, the sheriff's office said.

Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, the City of Pueblo reported the Evraz Fire was 100% contained by the Pueblo Fire Department and EVRAZ North America crews were now overseeing the fire. The city also said containing the fire did not mean it was fully extinguished.

An extreme fire danger and high wind warning is still in effect, the City of Pueblo added.

This is a developing situation. This article will be updated as information is confirmed.
