BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A wildfire near the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Laboratory in Boulder County is now 100% contained.
Boulder Police first posted at 11:46 a.m. Friday on social media that multiple agencies were responding including Boulder Fire.
The fire located near the second switchback of Mallory Cave Trail, about a quarter-mile west of NCAR, is being called the Dinosaur Fire.
As of Friday afternoon, the fire was reported to be about 3.5 acres and was slow-moving, Boulder Office of Emergency Management said. More than 75 firefighters were on scene, and two helicopters were also dropping water on the fire.
On Saturday morning, Boulder Office of Emergency Management (OEM) said the fire was 35% contained and was expected to be completely contained by the end of the day.
At 6:22 p.m. Saturday, Boulder OEM said the fire was 100% contained and that crews would monitor the fire through Sunday to ensure that it is fully extinguished.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area around NCAR due to the fire. All trails in the area are closed until Sunday or Monday.
