Fire burns at least 100 acres in Otero County

Multiple crews were battling a grass fire Sunday morning that burned at least 100 acres in Otero County, south of La Junta, according to a tweet from the Otero County Sheriff's Office.

The agency said just before 8 a.m. Sunday there was no containment on the fire, which has been named the Smith Canyon Fire.

The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control said its Multi-mission aircraft were assisting with the fire.

Helicopter crews are also assisting with the fire. An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has opened in La Junta, the sheriff's office said. There was no word if any structures were threatened
