Crews respond to brush fire in southern Jeffco

The fire that burned one or two acres was under control, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A brush fire burned one or two acres Tuesday morning in southern Jefferson County.

The fire was reported about 11 a.m. near 12257 S. Wadsworth Blvd. on Lockheed Martin property. By 11:30 a.m., the fire had burned about an acre and was spreading slowly uphill to the west, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.

At 12:50 p.m., South Metro Fire Rescue said on the social media platform X that the brush fire was under control. Crews planned to stay on scene to watch for flare-ups as high winds were expected Tuesday afternoon.

No buildings were threatened, and a Douglas County helicopter made water drops.

The cause is under investigation.

The responding agencies were South Metro Fire Rescue, West Metro Fire Rescue and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
