BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A downed powerline sparked a small fire that burned about a half-acre early Tuesday morning in the Carriage Hills neighborhood of Boulder County, the sheriff's office said.
Firefighters responded to a fire in the area of Surrey Ridge Road and Carriage Hills Drive shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), a pre-evacuation warning (be prepared to evacuate) was sent to 176 contacts via Everbridge to residents in the Surrey Ridge and Carriage Hills area. Deputies also conducted door-to-door notifications in the immediate area, the agency said.
A multi-agency response, which included 40 responders on-scene, was conducted and crews quickly got a handle on the fire. There were no injuries and no structures damaged, according to the sheriff's office.
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for half of Colorado as high winds will make fire conditions dangerous Tuesday.
Strong northwest winds, low humidity and dry fuels will increase the potential for rapid fire spread on Colorado's plains and Front Range foothills Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
