FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Crews have fully contained a wildfire that was reported around 11 a.m. Thursday in an area northeast of Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins, according to the Poudre Fire Authority (PFA).
The Skyline fire is estimated at 16.2 acres, PFA said.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) said deputies and Larimer County Department of Natural Resources park rangers were sent out to the Skyline picnic area at Horsetooth Reservoir regarding a disturbance just before 11 a.m.
When deputies got there, they found that the man involved in the disturbance had left, according to LCSO. They later found the man, identified as 34-year-old Robert Crookston McGehee of Fort Collins, in the 1200 block of North County Road 23 and took him into custody in connection with the fire.
McGehee was booked at the Larimer County jail on charges of second-degree arson and criminal mischief, both felonies.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call LCSO Investigator Justin Atwood at 970-498-5143.
PFA said smoke from the fire would be visible overnight.
