WELD COUNTY, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is looking for witnesses after a woman was killed in a crash in Weld County Thursday.

CSP said they learned about the crash just before 1 p.m. Thursday. A spokesperson said a 60-year-old woman in a Honda CR-V went off US Highway 85 near State Highway 60 north of Platteville and drove through a barbed wire fence before continuing across a field.

She was ejected, CSP said, and the vehicle ended up in an irrigation pond.

The woman was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

CSP said they do not suspect that alcohol, drugs or excessive speed were factors in the crash. It's not clear why she went off the road.

On social media, CSP asked anyone who saw a vehicle go off the road on US Highway 85 just north of State Highway 60 between 12:45 and 12:50 p.m. to call them at *277.

The woman's name has not been released.
