If Buddy Lazier wins the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, he'll become the race's oldest winner.
Lazier, 49, qualified 30th this past weekend to drive his No. 44 Lazier Racing-Stalk It-Tivoli Lodge Chevrolet into the field for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500.The race's oldest winner is Al Unser Sr., who was 47 when he won his final Indy 500 in 1987.
Lazier, who lives in Vail where he's an owner/operator of Tivoli Lodge, said he has "a shot" to win at Indy in his 20th race there. He won the event in 1996.
"It's really special, we love this place, for me in particular, 20 starts is an important milestone for myself," said Lazier, in a statement.
