CASTLE ROCK — Two homes were destroyed and five other homes have external damage after a fire broke out in a residential neighborhood in Castle Rock Tuesday morning.
Several fire agencies responded to the fire on North Foxtail Drive and after battling the flames for more than an hour, South Metro Fire Rescue reported the fire was contained.
The two destroyed homes and one damaged home are next to each other on North Foxtail Drive. Two homes in back of the destroyed homes are damaged, according to Castle Rock Fire Chief Art Morales.
Shortly after South Metro Fire crews arrived on the scene, they tweeted video showing two homes fully engulfed in flames with a third home also on fire.
The surrounding homes have been evacuated but so far no injuries have been reported.
Strong winds created a challenge for firefighters. According to the National Weather Service gusts of up to 60 miles an hour are expected.
It's unclear what started the fire.

At least two other wildfires are burning in the south metro area.
A wildfire burning near Sedalia has closed Highway 67 at Rampart Range Road, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
A fire burning in the Keene Ranch area of Douglas County prompted officials to send out pre-evacuation notices. The fire is estimated to be 3/4 of an acre in size, according to Larkspur Fire Department.
A Red Flag warning is in effect until 8 p.m. due to strong winds and low humidity.
