THORNTON, Colo. — One person died and one was taken to a hospital after a vehicle crashed into the water early Monday in the Thornton area, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
CSP troopers responded to the crash at 2:23 a.m. Monday near East 104th Avenue and McKay Road. Two people were inside vehicle. One of the occupants died at the scene, and the other was taken a hospital, said a CSP spokesperson. The injured person's condition was unknown.
Emergency personnel shut down East 104 Avenue while crews worked at the scene. The vehicle was removed from the water, and the road reopened about 5 a.m., the spokesperson said.
The Adams County Coroner's Office will release the name of the deceased victim after notification of next-of-kin.
