DENVER — It’s not your typical setting for a love story.
In the 21 years since Dan and Colleen Todd said “I do," there's been one question that everybody asks.
"Why?" Colleen asked. "Because we fell in love there is why."
Dan worked for Continental as a skycap. Colleen worked down the hall at Frontier. They hit it off right away.
For a love story that begins at the check-in counter, where else would you propose but the airport?
"Right there at level 5 we were sharing an ice cream looking at the pretty surroundings at I asked her to marry me. I said let’s just get married right here at the airport," Dan said.
And so it was set.
Somewhere outside security on the main concourse of Denver International Airport, Dan and Colleen brought a trellis, an officiant, and two words that bound them together to this day.
"She’s all dressed up in a wedding gown with roses and I’m in my nice suit, right in the middle of everything," Dan said. Then the announcements over the loudspeaker began. "We were right in the middle of our vows when we hear passengers and visitors are reminded…' then yes, I do."
21 years later, a lot has changed at DIA. For the Todds, love is just taking off.
"The windows were beautiful, and the scenery. It was beautiful," Colleen said. "Lots of memories. Wonderful memories."
