DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — State regulators this afternoon will weigh whether to lift an order they issued two years ago to post flaggers at the intersections to protect drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians from the passing University of Colorado A Line train.
The Regional Transportation District believes it’s time for the flaggers to go home.
RTD General Manager Dave Genova, during a February hearing before an administrative law judge for Colorado Public Utilities Commission, said the flaggers were needed two years ago — when the A Line first opened.
But the timing of the crossing gates has improved significantly since then and the flaggers today are an expensive amenity that’s no longer needed, Genova told the commissioners.
