DENVER — A luxury women's store, founded in the 1960's in Southern California, has called Denver home for more than two decades. Nestled in Cherry Creek, St. John has been a staple in the neighborhood for timeless women's fashions. For the entirety of its existence in the mile high city, Barb Ursetta has been guiding women through their shopping experience, and even taking it a step further.
"Come, enjoy a glass of champagne, make friends," Ursetta says. "The friendships that I've made, over the years means the most to me. My girls are my everything."
Ursetta has been the manager at St. John in Cherry Creek for 23 years. "When they come in the door I want them to feel comfortable, and when they leave I want them to feel beautiful," Ursetta says.
She has seen the fashion evolve from the original shift dress, to leather, tweed, sequins and so much more. She calls it an evolution from your grandmother's clothing, to now something for women of all ages.
And for the first time ever, St. John is debuting two collections at Denver Fashion Week this fall. They will be showing their resort collection and their fall collection, Saturday November 11th. The fashion powerhouse for more than 60 years, is hoping to breathe new life into the brand.
"What I really hope is, I've heard it's going to be a younger crowd and I think I would like for them to get away from the stigma of this is an older, your grandmothers' clothes, your grandmothers' era, because we truly have something for everyone," Ursetta says.
When you stop into the store at Steele St., and Second Ave., Ursetta says you will leave with clothes that will last you a lifetime... and a friend too.
Fall Denver Fashion Week kicks off Saturday November 11th with St. John. 9News' Erica Lopez is emceeing the show, and the Colorado Ballet is also the special performer that night. Shows continue through November 18th. You can get tickets for DFW right now.
