Smoke plume visible from train fire in Commerce City

Sky9 was over the BNSF train that caught fire Thursday morning along Highway 2 and 104th Avenue.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — A smoke plume was visible on the north side of the Denver metro area Thursday morning because of a train fire.

Fire crews responded to a fire onboard a BNSF train near East 104th Avenue and Colorado State Highway 2 in Commerce City around 7 a.m. Thursday.

Sky9 flew over the scene and was able to capture flames and smoke emitting from the train.

BNSF said one locomotive caught fire on a train carrying grain.  There are no injuries to the crew, said BNSF, who is working with fire crews to clear the scene as quickly and safety as possible.

BNSF said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
