The fire started behind a house in the 23000 block of South St. Vrain Drive about 10 miles southwest of the town of Lyons, the sheriff's office said. It was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The sheriff's office said the flames got into the trees and spread uphill onto U.S. Forest Service Land.

According to Robert Sullenberger, division chief for the department, about 15 homes were evacuated.

Sullenberger said that as far as he is aware, no structures have burned and there have been no injuries.

And in case you're wondering, as many viewers have, there wasn't much science to naming the "Tiny House Fire." Fires are often named for geographic reasons, so neighbors have a good understanding of where the fire is. In this case, the chief of the local volunteer department wanted to be specific, and he was inspired when he recognized the owner of the nearest home - the guy who builds tiny houses in Lyons.

"I'm known as the ‘tiny house guy.’ The chief knows me, and I had on a T-shirt that says ‘tiny house’ on it when I came racing in here in a panic yesterday afternoon. So he decided to call  it the ‘Tiny House Fire.’ But I'd like to assure you that no tiny houses were on fire at all," Byron Fears told 9NEWS.

Lyons is a city in Boulder County and is located about 45 miles slightly northwest of Denver.
