KUSA — Everyone who was inside a Castle Pines home when what firefighters called a “significant” blaze broke out Monday afternoon was able to get out safely, according to South Metro Fire.

The home is located in a gated neighborhood in the 600 block of Cliffgate Lane – west of Interstate 25 and East Happy Canyon Road.

Forty firefighters helped put out the blaze, according to South Metro Fire. Investigators are working to determine the cause, though early reports say a propane tank was involved and the home was heavily damaged.

South Metro Fire says one officer from Castle Pines Emergency Services is being evaluated for smoke inhalation and a rolled ankle.

Firefighters could not say how many people were inside the home when the fire started, but they could say that the smoke alarms worked and the family and their pets were able to escape before flames started to creep over to the roof.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the house, and it did not spread to the brush or any other nearby homes.
