ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — Search and rescue crews at Rocky Mountain National Park are looking for an overdue hiker from New Jersey who was believed to be attempting a climb up Longs Peak earlier this week.
Ryan Albert, 30, is believed to have started a hike up the mountain on October 4, although it’s unclear what his planned destination or route was.
Family members contacted the Denver Police Department on Friday after Albert failed to return back from the hike. His rental was found at the Long Peak trailhead by park rangers on Friday afternoon.
Albert was last seen leaving the Denver area early Thursday morning wearing dark colored clothing and a backpack.
On Saturday morning, crews started searching the Boulder Field, the Keyhole route, The Loft, Chasm Cirque, North Longs Peak and Boulder Brook.
Park rangers are hoping to hear from anyone who has been in the Longs Peak area since Thursday who may have seen or talked to Albert. Anyone with information is asked to call 970-586-1204.
