JOHNSTOWN, Colo. — Two people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning following a crash in Johnstown involving a school bus and an SUV.
The crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. along Highway 60 in the area of CR-19, according to Front Range Fire Rescue (FRFR).
The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital. The severity of that person's injuries was not immediately available.
FRFR said 18 students on board the bus were evaluated at the scene and were found to have no injuries. In a release, the town of Johnstown said the bus driver was also hurt and taken to the hospital.
Prior to the crash, the bus was headed to Milliken Middle School, a Facebook post from the Weld RE-5J School District says.
"We are thankful that all students on the bus are okay (bumps and bruises only) and have been released to their parents," the post reads.
Johnstown Police and Weld RE5J officials have since transported the students using a second bus to be reunited with their parents, FRFR said.
Highway 60 was closed in the area for hours as crews cleaned up the crash. The highway reopened just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
