BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The Niwot Park-n-Ride will close until 2027 as the Regional Transportation District (RTD) begins construction on the CO 119 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
RTD said the Niwot Park-n-Ride will reopen in May 2027 with new platforms for the new BRT service, a larger parking lot with lighting and security cameras, secure bike parking and access to the newly constructed bikeway.
RTD also said it will permanently close the north and southbound Highway 119 bus stops at Highway 52 beginning Sept. 29. The bus stop closure will facilitate reconstruction of the intersection to include new BRT bus platforms and access to the new bikeway.
RTD said temporary bus stops were not warranted due to lack of available ADA compliant stop locations. The next closest bus stops served by the BOLT bus are at 63rd Street to the south of CO 52 and Monarch or Niwot to the north.
The CO 119 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project aims to improve transportation between Boulder and Longmont. RTD has partnered with RTD, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Boulder County on the project.
