Woman pulled from creek after motorcycle crash

Rescuers put together a complicated a rope system to reach the woman who had ended up on the opposite side of Bear Creek.

MORRISON, Colo. — A woman who ended up on the opposite side of Bear Creek after she was thrown from a motorcycle in a crash on Highway 74 was rescued and taken to the hospital, according to West Metro Fire Rescue.

The crash happened near Morrison just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to Trooper Josh Lewis with the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The woman was the passenger on a motorcycle that a man was driving, CSP said.

Firefighters with West Metro Fire Rescue and Foothills Fire Rescue worked together to put together a rope system which allowed them to get a basket across the creek to the injured woman. They reached her in about an hour and brought her back to the other side of the water to a waiting ambulance.

Her condition was described as stable. We don't know if the driver was injured in the crash. CSP did not have any information on how the crash happened.

The highway was closed between Morrison and Idledale for several hours Monday evening for the rescue and investigation.

An ambulance responding to the crash was also hit by a passing car, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. There were not any injuries in that crash.
