Registration now open for 'Denver Santa Claus Shop' to help those in need during holidays

DENVER — Seeing the happy faces of children when they receive a gift is priceless.

For that reason, Denver Santa Claus Shop, a nonprofit organization that collects gifts for children in need, invites parents to register to choose toys for their children ages 0-11 on Dec. 8, 9, 11 and 12. 

Families that can participate in the event can be referred from social services agencies, schools, shelters and churches. 

For the past 92 years, Denver Santa Claus Shop has collected toys from the community and distributed them to families in the Denver area.

Families can register at register.denversantaclausshop.org. The link is available in English and Spanish. 

All families will need to create a new account for 2023, even if they have shopped with the organization in the past.

Here's how it works:

Are the toys free?

Yes. Each shopper will receive one 100-point coupon for each child, aged 11 or under, to spend on toys, dolls, games, etc. of their choosing.

What ages do they serve?

 0 – 11 years old.

Where is the shop located?

The shop location may change each year, but is always in the Denver Metro area. This year's location will be announced at denversantaclausshop.org and on their Facebook page.

The shop will open at 10 a.m. and no new shoppers will be allowed in after 3 p.m each shop day. 

To qualify for free DSCS toys: 

  • Be a Denver resident
  • Have one child or more, 11 years or younger
  • Receive services from Denver Human Services or a community partner

What to bring to the shop: 

  • Your photo I.D.
  • The QR code you received via email
  • Proof of your child’s/children’s ages (like a birth certificate, school form, medical form, etc.)
