Looming over the wind-swept plains of far northeastern Colorado near Fleming are the turbines of the Colorado Highlands Wind Farm.
The facility sprawls across 6,640 acres in Logan County. As the DBJ’s Cathy Proctor reported, it opened in 2012 and expanded in 2013 to 91 megawatts of capacity.
The wind farm is 99 percent owned by GE Financial Services, a unit of General Electric Co., (NYSE: GE), and 1 percent by Littleton-based Alliance Power Inc.
