GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A tiny collection of cabins high in the western Colorado mountains is still an incorporated town after a 9-0 vote of property owners.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports it's not clear whether Carbonate will again have a functioning town government after Tuesday's vote.

Carbonate occupies about 1 square mile in the Flat Tops mountain range at 11,000 feet above sea level. It was once a booming mining town and was the original Garfield County seat.

A dozen property owners petitioned a court for the election.

One property owner, Tim Thulson of Glenwood Springs, says the purpose was to see whether the other owners wanted to remain incorporated.

Thulson says they're now considering what's next.

He says he hopes to have a residence in Carbonate someday.
