LONGMONT – There has been a spike in police activity at Longmont's Roosevelt Park on Main Street and Ninth Avenue recently.

According to Longmont Police, officers have been called to the area of the park 131 times so far in 2015. Commander Joel Post says officers are patrolling the area more frequently because of this increase in calls.

Police say the calls range from animal complaints to calls regarding burglar alarms going off.

Commander Post says the park is not a dangerous place, but police do want to figure out why residents have so many complaints.

Carmen Ramirez with the City of Longmont Community says neighbors are concerned about homeless individuals camping in the park. Ramirez says many communities are struggling to find a way for a variety of people to coexist in parks and open spaces.

The City of Longmont and Longmont Police will have a meeting on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center Gym at 910 Longs Peak Ave. to hear from neighbors and discuss the issue.
