Next Question: Why aren't the new signs installed on I-25 working?
Viewer John Rogers wanted to know, so we went to CDOT to find the answer.
The signs aren't toll-related, which is what we originally thought.
They're actually called "smart signs."
CDOT says they are designed to help move traffic.
They show when lanes are closed, the speeds of traveling cars and when there are crashes ahead. The goal is to help them decrease crashes, and to help reduce traffic issues.
They're already in use on U-S 36.
Right now, they're in the testing phase on I-25, so they're just blank.
CDOT says the smart signs should start working in the next few months.
