DENVER — President Trump was set to return to Colorado just 22 days after his last visit.
But the White House on March 11 announced the trip had been canceled out of an abundance of caution amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The president had planned to be at a Denver-area luncheon with Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colorado, on Friday, March 13.
An invitation obtained by 9NEWS shows that the guests were being asked for $100,000 contribution, which would have gotten them "roundtable, photo opportunity & VIP seating at luncheon" for two.
Trump last visited Colorado on Feb. 20 for a campaign rally at World Arena in Colorado Springs.
He filled the arena and an overflow parking lot outside for his 98-minute speech.
It's the speech that gave him national headlines for questioning why a foreign film would win Best Picture at the Academy Awards (Parasite) and his critique of Brad Pitt's acting.
For the Colorado crowd, he singled out three veterans who fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Veterans James Blaine, Donald Whipple and John Thurman were recognized by the president.
Trump had previously promised to visit Colorado often to help Gardner in his Senate race.
