The Most Colorado Thing We Saw Today... well, there's no other way to say it - it's a dog poop collection contest.

Westminster hopes people will spend Saturday morning picking up the poo at Westminster Dog Hills Park because the dog owners can't seem to do it themselves.

The city wants volunteers to show up bright and early - by 8:30 a.m. - to start sprucing up the place.

Some of you may be wondering why you should skip sleeping in this weekend to pick up old dog poop, which belonged to someone else's dog. To that, we'd say:

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

The most accomplished volunteers will get a reward! Winners will be given a "golden poo" made of blown-glass.

Only the first 100 people to sign up are eligible. The 40 people who collect the most poop in 90 minutes will get the prize.

Corey Silverman from The Furnace, a hot-glass studio in Lakewood, made the golden poos. Each one is engraved on the bottom with an ID number and the year it was made.

If you're, somehow, still not convinced this sounds appealing, Westminster would beg to differ. The city says it's been putting blown-glass eggs and rainbow-colored poo around Standley Lake for the last two years, to encourage people to get outside and explore the trails. They have become "highly sought-after collectibles year after year," according to the city.

An award ceremony for the winners is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.

Go forth and collect!

And THAT is the Most Colorado Thing We Saw Today.
