When South Metro Fire Engine 33 rumbles out to a call, engineer Mike Freeman will be aboard every time.

The new rig bears a plaque with Freeman's name.

He died after a battle with cancer last year. It's believed his cancer was related to his job, responding to fires and saving lives on the South Side of the metro area.
