A UPS driver attempting to deliver a package to a woman's house ended up leaving a failure-to-deliver note instead.
The reason? He found a bear in the driveway and, understandably, couldn't get to the house.
The woman, Marcy Lanier, posted a picture of it to her social media accounts, and it ended up going "viral," as the kids say. People couldn't resist sharing the latest only in Colorado kind of moment. Someone even edited the picture to say "Colorado Problems."
It was a meme waiting to happen. After all, who among us could resist a good bear story? Coloradans can't get enough. Just this summer we all cheered for a bear that escaped from a storm drain. We watched as another bear hopped from between backyards in Parker. And we're still not over the video from last week that showed a bear casually wandering through the lobby of the Stanley Hotel.
Lanier knew this was hilarious as soon as she saw the note.
"I opened up my mailbox and got my little slip on my package, and so it says 'Bear in driveway.' So they couldn't deliver my package," she said. "And I just laughed and said, of course, only in Asheville!"
Yeah, that's right. This didn't happen in Colorado, everyone. This happened in North Carolina.
Facebook users, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and even reporters from California to Denver spread the meme.
Lanier isn't mad that other states are taking credit, though. She kind of loves it, in fact.
"It's helped me to find my giggle again. With all the turmoil and all the stuff going on, this has let my whole salon (where she works) here and everyone here, we have just been finding our giggle. And it's just been awesome," she told us.
