Today, Next had our own Next Question: Why do phone books still exist, and how can I get them off my porch?
A phone book publishing group says 50 percent of Americans still use phone books, either people who don't use or don't have access to the internet.
Hmm... let's assume that stat is correct. That means that half the population gets a 6 pound bound pile of paper plopped on their porch against their will each year.
There's a website to opt out of phone book deliveries called YellowPagesOptOut.com.
9NEWS' own Ryan Haarer did a more elaborate story on this last year.
If you don't choose to opt out of getting a phone book, Next also found a place where you can donate them. It's called Judi's House, and the organization gives books to children who are looking for ways to cope with grief. The kids are allowed to destroy the books.
